Tiling is finished!

The floor is pretty much done. It just needs to be sealed. The painters are coming hopefully next week to paint the entryway and trim and the high foyer which will make a huge difference!

Mudroom makeover

This is how our Mudroom entryway has looked since we moved in. Lovely, huh?? Notice the wine glass in the background as david ponders the best way to lay the tile....you have to drink wine when tiling. :) Well, lucky for us, this will be our project this week! :) along with a ton of other little projects we cant work on with the little monkeys. We've shipped the boys off to their grandparents' house for the week, and we are having ourselves a little staycation (so far it has been wonderful and I'm wondering why we haven't stayed home on vacation before!) so had to take a before picture and hopefully by the end of the week, this area will have an actual floor!

Wallah!!

Well, not quite "wallah!" because that would imply that this project took mere minutes and in actuality it took forever!! :) here are some pics of our recently remodeled bathroom. (See previous 2 posts for "before".) Still have to paint the ceiling a gold color and hang something on the wall and paint and put the shoe molding back but its mostly done. Tried to do this very budget friendly since the entire house has work to be done. We took the wallpaper down and painted the stained door a dark brown/ grey color.  Also, we painted the stained trim a light color which is the same color as the walls.  It lightened things up quite a bit.  We used curtains from our house in florida and the curtain rod was so kindly donated from my genius sister (Lindsey Hene Interiors) . I repainted the original cabinet that was in the bathroom and upholstered the cabinets (My sister's suggestion :0) with batting I had and a curtain I found at Lowes.  I really liked the pattern and it just happened to be the same color as my curtains.  Got the knobs at Anthropologie.....they were probably a bit of a splurge but I really liked them!  I also bought "feet" for the cabinet at Lowe's and David put those on for me.  The chandelier came from Ballard Backroom.  Got it an additional 50% off!  The most awesome part is the mirror!  I knew I wanted to use barn wood for something in there and I already had the mirror so we grabbed some barn wood from our barn and figured out how to hang it on the wall behind the mirror.  Have mentioned how BRILLIANT and AMAZING my hubby is??!!  Sooooo, I'm giddy over the fact that one room is actually somewhat finished!  I walked by it this morning and felt such relief to see that we now have a sink in the bathroom! Funny, the things you can get used to!  Let me know what you think!  Any recommendations for what to put on the wall??  I have some old surveys of our land and I was thinking about framing those but not sure.  The pictures aren't the best quality because the room is small and i had to take them with my phone because of the 2 little monkeys running around our house demanding breakfast this morning. (How dare them!  :0)

Taking longer than I thought...

So this process of beautifying the bathroom is taking much longer than I thought! We have finally gotten all the wallpaper down and it already looks a ton better but a sink would be nice....hoping to finish up this week. Fingers crossed!!

Powder room makeover

I'm going to attempt to makeover our powder room. Here is the sink that was in it when we moved in. We took it out when we moved in so the floor people could refinish the floors in the bathroom. (I say "we" about all the projects David does by himself. Not sure why I say "we" :) So, to save some moolah, I'm going to paint it and get knobs and hopefully turn it into something beeautiful! Wish me luck!! And side note, that is our front porch outside the window of our powder room. Bizarre, huh??

13 months and 3 houses later!

Yes, that's right. We have lived in 3 houses in the short 13 months that Whit has been on this earth. Phew!! It has been a wild ride! So we finally finished Whit's room (still need pictures on the walls and maybe a book shelf.) so there you have it! The first 2 rooms in our new house that are semi done! Yippee! :)
